My 30th Birthday

Today is my 30th Birthday! I remember when my Mom turned 30 years old and I believe she even cried that day. When I was a kid turning 30 seemed to be such an old age. But, now that I'm here, I'm thankful to be turning 30. God has blessed me to be a year older. Another birthday to celebrate with my husband and kids.

Some people-particularly women view the day they turn 30 with dread. They see everything slipping away-the proverbial ‘through their fingers’ so to speak.
Like one women turning 30 years old relayed, I have truly accomplished all the things I wanted to do by now but I feel....well, I feel as if I am losing something important; Youth!

My husband and I have been joking around saying the lines from the Friends TV show where they all turn 30 and Joey cries " Why, God, why?! We had a deal let the others grow old not me! "

Here’s my favorite quote on the subject, written by Robert Heinlein in Stranger in a Strange Land:
"Anyone can see a pretty girl. An artist can look at a pretty girl and see the old woman she will become. A better artist can look at an old woman and see the pretty girl she used to be. A great artist can look at an old woman, portray her exactly as she is...and force the viewer to see the pretty girl she used to be...more than that, he can make anyone see that this lovely young girl is still alive, prisoned inside her ruined body. He can make you feel the quiet, endless tragedy that there was never a girl born who ever grew older than eighteen in her matter what the merciless hours have done.
