Surgery

I'm having my ovary and tube removed tomorrow. I'm ready to have it over and done with. I'm nervous about being put to sleep. I've had problems in the past waking up after surgery.

Praying it goes well!

Pediatric Stroke Awareness

This is my youngest, Nick who suffered a stroke before he was born. As shocking as it may sound 1 in 4000 babies suffer a stroke each year. Before my son was born I had no idea that unborn babies could suffer from a stroke.

Nick was a preemie who was born 7 weeks early and when he was 6 months old he was not lifting his head or pushing up on his arms. I talked to my son's pediatrician and addressed my concerns. She said since he was a preemie he would need extra time. I went home and started searching online for ways that I could help my son. I came across several articles about Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapy. I made another appointment with Nick's pediatrician and asked her what she thought about him doing therapy? She thought it was worth a try, but also told me not to get my hopes up. I was determined to do whatever I needed to do.

Nick started doing Occupational Therapy twice a week, then Physical Therapy and Speech Therapy twice a week along with other visits to different specialist. He was diagnosed with Mild Cerebral Palsy & Seizure disorder. He had to wear orthopedic shoes & gloves, and a patch over his stronger eye. As therapy progressed so did Nick. He eventually lifted his head, pushed up, rolled over, sat on his own, began to crawl, and even started to walk.

He is now 6 years old and is doing so well. He may struggle from time to time, but with help if needed he is able to do everything and more!

Creepy

This things scare me! haha

Nursing Assistant Class Day 1

Today was my first day of my Nursing Assistant class at Tennessee Technology Center. It was boring and long. All we did is read and work on homework. I'm excited though to be making a career change into the medical field.

Celie the Wasp Killer!

My daughter Celie who will be 8 this month is one of a kind. Whenever she does something she just doesn't do it half way she can be a little extreme.

One morning she woke me up and I couldn't help but giggle when I saw her. She said there was a wasp and had her gear on to kill it. This is what she looked like! =)

Inexpensive Fabric Softener Recipes

Inexpensive Fabric Softener Recipes

Pour entire container of softener into a 5 gallon bucket. Fill empty softener container with water twice. (2 parts water to 1 part softener) Add sponges to softener/water mixture. When ready to use wring out extra mixture from one sponge and add to the dryer as you would a dryer sheet.

It's a shame the state this country is in. Personal agendas and interests are going to be our ruin.

I am not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to economics or politics, but I do know that what we have is not working or hasn't been for some time now. Everyone of them has something they want paid for most of which is not beneficial to this country as a whole. I am a firm believer in the Declaration of Independence and believe in its importance for what the people of this nation were dealing with some 250 years ago. Now we are faced with a tyranny again, not an oppression of the people in a physical state, but a tyranny that is beginning to ruin our country economically, fiscally, and could possibly cause a major separation between the people in this nation. It could force major dependence on foreign moneys among other things. So this small piece of history that follows, to me, symbolizes exactly what we need to do. Like I said, we aren't under the rule of a tyrant, but apparently we are under the rule of many tyrants. Please read and try to really understand what our forefathers were saying. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of ABUSES and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

Get High School Skinny!

Hmm...Really?!?! I'm supposed to take 1-2 capsules first thing in the morning with a full glass of water, wait a couple of hours before eating breakfast, drink an additional 64 ounces of water during the day, have no caffeine, decaf or artificial sweeteners, and a proper diet and exercise routine.

Healthy Trim Day 1:

I have only been drinking water today. Which means no Dr. Peppers for me. :(

For Breakfast I ate Cheerios with skim milk and a banana.
For Lunch I ate the Berry Almond Salad from Wendy's
For Dinner I ate a Lean Cuisine Dinner
If every US citizen ate just one meal a week composed of locally and organically raised meats and produce, we would reduce our country's oil consumption by over 1.1 million barrels (not gallons, but barrels) of oil EVERY week!!! Becoming a less energy-dependent nation may just need to start with better nutrition and healthy choices!

Mother's Day is just around the corner

As Mother’s Day is quickly approaching, I thought I should post a picture of my first born.  I still remember the day I became a momma, feels like it was yesterday.

Flowers & Such

Here are some pictures I took on this beautiful Spring Day!
