David & Lisa - A Love Story

Happy New Year!

The year 2013 is fading into the history books, as we welcome 2014. The start of a new year means different things to different people. Many of us will kick off 2014 by compiling a list of New Year's resolutions – losing weight, quit smoking or exercising more.
Whatever the start of a new year means to you, remember to always count your blessings & to smile! :)

18 years old, but he will always be my little brother!

I can’t believe it was 18 years ago today. I remember that day like it was yesterday. Isaiah was the cutest baby ever. I was 15 years old when he was born. You’re not so little anymore. You’re officially an adult, but no matter what, you will always be my little brother. Doesn’t matter how strong and how old you get! You will be graduating High School soon and then going to college. I'm so excited for your future. I know you will make the right decisions and as always we are so very proud of you. Remember keep God first and you can't go wrong. Love you!

Merry Christmas from Our Family to Yours

To all of you who celebrate this special day, may your day be filled with warmth and good cheer this Holy season, and throughout the year! Merry Christmas!

I will "see" you all next New Year!

Merry Christmas Eve

Its a family tradition to go over to my parents house every Christmas Eve. We would play games, eat finger foods, and the kids would open their gifts from Nana & Papa. This year it was my family, my sister's family and my Mom, Dad, sister, brother, his girlfriend, my aunt and cousin who came over. We didn't play games, but we still had a good time. Of course we missed everyone who wasn't able to be there.

Feeling Numb

A childhood friend passed away today. She leaves behind two children and a husband. Knowing how I am feeling about her sudden death; It breaks my heart to think of the pain her family is going through. Lyndsey was only 31 was years old. We were childhood friends and we were like family. We lived together at one time as kids. We drifted apart over the years like most people do. We all get busy with our daily lives with children, family and work. Our daughters went to school together and we would see one another in passing every now and then. I wish now I would of put forth more of an effort to make time for her. My prayers are with her children and family.

Like everything else, all suffering will go, until one day it comes again. ~ Unknown

Hot Fudge Pie

I found a new recipe on Pinterest tonight. I hope this recipe turns out good. I have made too many that were an epic fail.

Hot Fudge Pie
Serves four to six
  • 4 ounces unsalted butter, with a bit extra for greasing pie plate
  • 1 ½ squares unsweetened baking chocolate (1.5 ounces)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup AP flour (that is “all-purpose” for those of you not yet hip to food jive…)
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Butter an eight-inch diameter pie plate or cake pan – use a glass or ceramic, if possible – or use cooking spray
  3. Melt butter and chocolate (I use a microwave – pretty much just for this task – at 50% power at 30 second intervals, just until the chocolate is almost entirely melted, and then stir).  Cool.
  4. Mix sugar into beaten eggs, combine until sugar is fully incorporated.
  5. Mix in butter-chocolate mixture until completely blended.
  6. Add vanilla and milk.  Stir well.
  7. Fold in flour, mixing just until no white streaks remain – do not overbeat.
  8. Bake for 25 minutes.
Serve with ice cream

And They Lived Happily Ever After!

I have been married to my husband for 15 years. He is my happily ever after. We have had our UP's and DOWN's. I love my husband. We have four children and I am truly blessed. We have grown closer throughout our marriage. I worry about our children. What they see in their every day world. Wives are miserable and husbands cheat. That’s the message that seems to be in the media today. My question is, does marriage not mean anything anymore? I have seen true love and I don't mean the type of true love and romance that's in the movies. I have been blessed with seeing the rare occasion of couples celebrating their 10th, 15th, 20th, 40th & 50th Wedding Anniversary. I wonder to myself what is their secret? What advice do they have in making a marriage last? The responses I have received throughout the years isn't rocket science.

Marriage is something you have to work at every day.
Marriage isn't 50/50. It is 100/100.
Pray together.
Don't forget to say "I Love You".
Always communicate with one another and make major decisions together.
Don't let relatives and friends get in the middle of your personal business.
After God, put your spouse and family first.
Laugh...a lot!
Enjoy spending time together.
Have special date nights
Don't stay mad.
Pray! Work, talk, love, and make up!
Don't be afraid to get help. Go to counseling together.
Work problems and pressures of everyday life will always work themselves out with the power of prayer.
Respect one another.
Selfless Love.
Trust each other and don't do anything to destroy that trust.
Learn to let the little things go.
Do things together as a family.
Be an example for your children to follow.
Focus and appreciate the good things in life.

Please feel free to post your own advice in the comment section.

Mom is down for the night

No more DayQuil! It's time for the knock me out and help me sleep, so I will hopefully start feeling better in the morning medicine. Whatever this is....severe cold/flu has really knocked me down. My poor nose is so sore. I don't know how I could have so much crud and mucus. Nighty Night!

Cookie Baking Time

Every Christmas I love to bake dozens of chocolate chip cookies. I started my baking tonight. My hubby bought me a KitchenAid mixer last Christmas and I just love using it! I'm looking for new cookie recipes. If you have any you want to share please comment below. :-)

This is me!!!

Reality of Migraines

I wish more people would try to understand. If you are not a Migraine sufferer, then remember the next time you offer advice to the person in your life that suffers from Migraines, make sure it's not toxic (i.e., you need to avoid stress, cheer up, don't drink Coke, or other well-meaning but emotionally debilitating statements). Rather, offer to turn down the lights and the TV, and let them know you understand. Remember: Migraine is an "invisible" disorder. "Well! I've often seen a cat without a grin," thought Alice; "But a grin without a cat! It's the most curious thing I ever saw in all my life!" Like Alice's Cheshire-Cat who sat in a tree revealing himself only to Alice, he nonetheless had great impact on her daily travels, as Migraines do on individuals who suffer from them. Migraines: The Myth & Reality

Wham! - Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go

Who doesn't want to dance when they hear this song? The 80's music was great! he he love it!

I wonder if Santa can deliver this?!?!?!

Just a few things that are on my mind

One thing people say that gets under my skin is: "We gotta get you a good doctor" or "You still have Migraines?" Yes, I still have migraines. Several a week. When I don't have a migraine, I'm in some kind of pain. My head always hurt. I have missed more days of work than I care to ever admit because of being sick. My husband is the only one who really tries to understand what I'm going through. He has gotten up at all hours of the night when I was sick or just to get me a cold wet washcloth to put over my eyes. I always feel horrible when we end up arguing because I'm feeling bad and I end up taking it out on him. I miss being able to do normal every day things.  At work I keep the light off when I'm at my desk on the computer. I have to wear sunglasses even when the sun isn't shining. I'm taking more prescriptions than I ever have and I don't notice any difference.

Uh Oh! Sparkle the Elf is in trouble.....Again!

Going to see Santa

We took a drive to Severiville, Tn to visit Santa. Of course my husband was happy Santa was at Bass Pro Shop.

Brent. Yes! Santa even got my teenager up to see him. My son didn't want me to post on Facebook, so I didn't.

It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

Hubby went deer hunting this morning with my Dad & Brother. Its just me and the kids here. The radio is tuned to classic Christmas songs. The Christmas tree is finally put up and decorated. I’ve even managed to sneak in some Christmas shopping online. The house is a complete wreck, but at the moment I just don't care. We’ve all been going full force since before Thanksgiving and today has been the most perfect day for unwinding, getting into the holiday spirit, and just being together. I hope your Saturday has been just as blissful!

Happy Thanksgiving

Often in life we come across many people who have helped us, made our lives better and taught us good lessons. They may or may not be family, but are truly cherished. For each of us, it may mean different things, but the intention of this day, is to give thanks for every good thing that has happened and above all thank God for giving us this life. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones!

Listening to the little things my children say

As a Mom I have been guilty many times of not really listening to my child when he/she is telling me something. Either about their day or something they like, etc. I want to do better and always be there for my children and really listen to them. Even the little stuff.
